Clyde L. Patton, Jr. was born in Memphis. He received a BA degree from Yale University in 1962 and an MBA designation from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce in 1964.
He began work in 1964 for Joyner, Heard & Jones in the Mortgage Banking Division, where he served as Vice President of Income Property Loans. During 1967, Mr. Patton & Bruce Taylor formed Patton & Taylor Construction Company and began building more than 500 custom single-family homes in East Memphis and Germantown. In 1982, the firm moved from home building to commercial construction projects as diverse as tilt-up concrete warehouses and loft apartments. In 1985, the firm developed and built its first multi-family project. Since that time, it has built over 7,200 multi-family units, 3,781 of which were for its own account. Patton and Taylor is currently building Phase VIII of the Fieldstone Apartments, a 139 unit project in Memphis and the Thornwood Apartments, a 251 unit apartment community in Germantown.
Mr. Patton served as President of the Home Builders Association of Memphis in 1978 and was elected “Builder of the Year” in 1979. He has served on the boards of Regions Bank of Memphis, Nehemiah Community Development Corporation, First Commercial Bank of Memphis, Home Federal Savings and Loan Association, Cadence Bank of Memphis, the Memphis Area Home Builders Association, Les Passes Children's Rehabilitation Center and the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce.| | | Bruce C. Bruce C. Taylor was born in Los Angeles and later moved with his family to Dallas, Texas. He attended St. Mark’s School of Texas, graduated from the University of Texas with a BA degree, and did graduate studies at the University of Texas School of Business.
In 1964, after moving to Memphis, Mr. Taylor joined Joyner, Heard, & Jones Realtors as a salesman specializing in investment and suburban acreage. In 1967, along with Clyde L. Patton, Jr., he formed Patton & Taylor Construction Company, serving as Executive Vice President engaging in general contracting.
Since 1967, Patton & Taylor has been involved in the construction of single-family homes, multi-family housing, high-rise offices, shopping centers and industrial buildings. In addition, they have performed numerous remodels and renovations. Patton & Taylor built approximately 600 single-family homes between 1968 and 1981, and approximately 7,200 apartments, condominiums and other buildings since 1981.
Mr. Taylor has been active in the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and has served on the boards of the following: Home Builders Association of Memphis, Les Passees Children’s Rehabilitation Center, The Hutchison School, Germantown Rotary Club, WKNO Public Radio and Television, Opera Memphis, Economic Club of Memphis, Victory Bank and Trust Company, AmSouth Bank, Trezevant Manor, Lambda Alpha, St. Columba Episcopal Conference Center, Shelby County Books From Birth, The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis. and Calvary Episcopal Church. Mr. Taylor is past president of the Germantown Rotary Club, Lambda Alpha and Economic Club of Memphis and was Senior Warden at Calvary Episcopal Church. Ron grew up in West Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee and Dyersburg State Community College. In 1979, he started his career in the commercial construction business in Houston, Texas, as an apprentice carpenter and quickly moved up to foreman. In 1986, he joined Patton & Taylor Construction Company as a foreman and quickly rose through the ranks to superintendent. Currently, he serves as our Senior Project Manager and Estimator.
Ron’s construction experience ranges from tilt-up warehouses to offices, condominiums, commercial shopping centers, hotels and nearly 7,200 apartment homes.| | | Ronnie W. Smith, General Superintendent |
Ronnie grew up in Parsons, Tennessee, and started his career in commercial construction in 1976. His early experience was construction of hotels, hospitals, shopping centers, FedEx, University of Memphis and other schools.
Ronnie joined Patton & Taylor Construction Company as a superintendent in 1985. He is responsible for building and renovating numerous projects ranging from hotels, country clubs and office buildings, to clinics and nearly 7,200 apartment homes.
